What is Happening at Wabasha Dentistry?

Summer 2010

We recently celebrated with one of our Certified and Registered dental assistants as she commemorated a significant birthday. Our entire staff wore black and had fun with patients as we shared Barb’s milestone. We have a fantastic staff, as most of you that have been in our office know. They are all excellent at their profession, and yet, enjoy each other and our patients, which makes my job so much easier. The positive attitude really comes through in the care of our patients. I am very fortunate that our entire staff has all been with me for many years. I feel this is one of the differences between our office and others out there.

Make sure you read the previous What's Happening entry on how to enter for the chance to get the Free Twin’s Tickets. Entries must be in by August 6th for the August 19th Chicago White Sox game.

Kathy, our receptionist, is continuing to train for the 60 mile Walk For The Cure, breast cancer fundraiser. My wife and I and Kathy’s husband, Steve, walked with her on one of her 6 mile training sessions. We talked her into walking to the Stone Barn Pizza place outside of Nelson, Wisconsin. The walk was enjoyable and the pizza and fun at the end of the walk were even better. If you would like to contribute to the cause go to the3day.org, click donate, and search for Kathy Gosse fundraising web page. Or you can call 800-996-3day.

Spring 2010

FREE MINNESOTA TWINS TICKETS

Spring is here and the weather is as crazy as always.  We have been busy at the dental office and yet, still trying to find time to enjoy the great assets of our area.

This summer our receptionist, Kathy, will be partaking in the  Susan G. Komen 3-day Walk For The Cure.  This 60 mile walk raises money for  breast cancer research.  Many of our staff members have recently been involved in walking and running fundraisers for this cause.  I am proud of all of them. If you would like to contribute to Kathy's 3-day fund raiser go to the3day.org and click on donate.  Then find her personal fundraising web page under Twin Cities_ Kathy Gosse.

One more thing.  Many of you are aware that I am a MN TWINS fan.  They are doing very well this year and enjoying their new stadium.  In celebration of that we are giving away 3 tickets to the August 19th game against their archrival Chicago White Sox.  If you would like to enter to win these tickets, drop off a post card size piece of paper with the words "Twins Tickets" and your name and phone # at our front desk or mail it to:

March 2010

This last month I have enjoyed spending numerous hours at the local schools with students, getting energized with their questions and quest for knowledge.  I have been doing this for so many years and yet, I come away from this experience feeling so blessed to be able to educate our youth with a knowledge of what it will take to maintain their oral health for the rest of their lives.  This in turn will improve their overall health and decrease future medical expenses.  The enthusiasm of our students to learn always inspires me.  Also in February, my staff and I volunteered to take care of the dental needs of local youngsters who otherwise would not have that opportunity.  We look forward to this every year and found this very gratifying.

During this this last month, we also completed several makeovers on our patients.  To be able to give someone the smile they have always dreamed of and watch their reaction, when they see their new look, is so rewarding for us.  There are many new techniques which make it easy for our patients to accomplish their new smile.  We allow patients to choose the technique they want and we can use digital photography programs to allow them to see the results before we ever start the treatment.  We look forward to providing this service and offer free consultations to answer anyone's questions or show them what their possibilities are.  You can contact us at 651-565-3511 or 1-800-862-3511 or at drmann@manndds.com or wabashadentistry.com.

These are a few of the reasons that I enjoy what I do.

Give Kids a Smile at Wabasha Dentistry

On February 5th the entire staff at Wabasha Dentistry volunteered to see children who, otherwise, because of circumstances or cost, would have not been able to have dental care. We enjoyed seeing a number of great families and providing needed dental care. As you can see in the photos the children also enjoyed their day.

The winners of the annual Dental Health Month Button Contest sponsored by Dr. Robert J. Mann were recently announced. For the last 34 years, Dr. Mann has spent several days each year making dental health presentations to educate our students about their oral health during dental health month. These students then have the opportunity to enter a design contest, with the winner having buttons made out of their design. These buttons are then distributed, free of charge, to anyone who would like to receive one. All of the students designs are displayed February and March in Dr. Mann's reception room for all to come and see.

This years winner is Isabel Marcks, a kindergartener in Mrs. Johnson's class. She received The Toothy Starfish, a stuffed animal with teeth and a bag of other prizes. There were two runners up this year, Connor Kropp and Lexi Hetrick Binner. All entrants to the contest received a bag of prizes.

If you would like to see the wonderful designs of all the students, please stop by Dr. Mann's Dental Office (right next to the Post Office) in downtown Wabasha. December 2009

Dr. Mann's staff shopping for the "Star of Hope" moms

Thanks to our patients, 2009 has been a very good year.  We have been busy and have added two new members to our great team.  Dr. Christensen and Sarah have fit into our dental family and became important factors in increasing services to our patients.  They have allowed us to expand our working hours and to continue to offer emergency services 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.  These are important for the convenience of our patients.  All of us work very hard everyday, to make sure your visits to our office are pleasant, efficient, comfortable and sometimes even fun.

We also want to thank Tina, a local hygienist, who filled in so admirably while Stephanie was dealing with some medical issues.  We are now happy to tell you that Stephanie is back working full time and is doing great.  Our patients are very happy to have her smiling face back with us.

As a thank you to the community for supporting us throughout 2009, we decided that instead of a  Christmas party, we would buy gifts for the mom’s of those Star of Hope families who are struggling to have a good Christmas this year.   We are able to piggy-back onto the Rotary’s Star of Hope program which provides gifts, groceries and other necessities for these families.  We felt the Mothers of these families could use a little something extra for all they do.

Our staff had a great time shopping for and wrapping special items for these Mothers.  We are very happy to be a small part of the very special Star of Hope program.  Thank you for supporting us, so that we can continue to support this great community.

We hope you all have a very
Merry Christmas
and a prosperous and joyous
New Year
!

October 2009 update

News on Stephanie

I would first like to let you know that our hygienist, Stephanie, is doing well and will be returning to the office in the very near future. For those of you who have not heard, Stephanie had a stroke which gave us all a scare. We are excited about her recovery and can't wait for the return of an important member of our team. Thanks to all of you for your prayers and cards.

Payment help

I want to tell you about a service that we offer to our patients. Did you know that we offer a no interest payment plan for up to a year? We also have other low interest payment plans that can extend up to 3 years. We understand that dental treatment can be a major expense and in this up and down economy, payments can be difficult. We have worked with several companies over the last few years and were able to find a company who is easy and very patient friendly to work with. So if you have questions about treatment or payment options or anything dental, please give us a call at 651-565-3511 or 1-800-862-3511 or contact us through our website.

Septoberfest

Wabasha is celebrating Septoberfest during September and October. The town is festively decorated and a sight to see. If you get a chance come check out the town, enjoy all the activities, especially on weekends. The photo here is the decorations outside our dental office that the staff put together in celebration with the town.

What's Happening August-September 2009

Dr. Christianson is now a part of our team. Many of you have met him and now know why I am so excited to have him join our practice. His knowledge, personality and skill allow him to treat you the way you have come to expect in our office. His presence has allowed us to expand our hours to make it as convenient for our patients as possible.

Monday 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM
Tuesday 7:30 AM to 7:00 PM
Wednesday 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM
Thursday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Friday 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Saturday Closed
Sunday Closed

Of course we will continue to handle emergencies 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.  If you call the office there will always be a phone # to reach whichever dentist is on call.   All after hour emergencies will have an extra charge and must be paid at the time of service.

With our expanded hours, we should be able to handle that “before school rush”, but call as soon as you can, as our expanded schedule will fill up.

On your next visit you will also notice that phase I of  our 3 phase office makeover has taken place.  4 of our exam rooms have new flooring, wallpaper and dental chairs and stools.  If you like the look, be sure to thank Linda, of our staff, as she spent many hours researching and using her talents to find the best materials as well as color coordination.

If you would like an appointment or to talk to Dr. Mann, Dr. Christensen, or one of our great staff, give us a call at 565-3511 or 800-862-3511.

What's Happening June 2009

We have some exciting news to share with all of you. Dr. Mann has found another dentist who shares his passion for dentistry and his caring way towards his patients. Dr. Andrew Christensen will be joining our office. This will allow our office to expand hours, improve patient care and make it more convenient for our patients.

Dr. Christensen is a native of Rochester, MN. and graduated as one of the top dentists in his class at the University of Minnesota. He received a prestigious award, as the most caring dentist with quality care, at the school. We are fortunate to welcome another high quality professional to our office at Wabasha Dentistry.

Dr. Christensen will be getting married in June to Katie, a kindergarten teacher, who grew up in Starbucks, MN. He will be joining our practice in mid-July and they will be making their home in Wabasha.

Dr. Mann still has a passion for dentistry and his patients and is looking forward to working with Dr. Christensen. This move will allow for the office to be open more hours and have more thorough emergency coverage 24/7. Help us welcome Dr. Christensen to our office and his wife, Katie, to town.

What's Happening May 2009

We continue to enjoy doing makeover cases. We feel very blessed to be able to help people attain the look they have always wanted. It is rewarding to see their new smiles and watch their personalities shine through as they realize how great they look. Our patients are always amazed at how easy it is to attain this new look. Below are just a couple of samples of our most recent work. If you have an interest in something like this for yourself, a friend, or a loved one, we offer free consultations. You may reach us for your consultation or to answer any questions at 651-565-3511 or 1-800-862-3511 or wabashadentistry.com. Please take a look at our photo gallery for more cases.

What's Happening 2/2009

Our office continues to be busy and we thank our patients for allowing us to serve them and their dental needs.  As a thank you to the community for giving us another record breaking year, we donated $400 to our area food shelf (photo shown).  We appreciate the community support and thank you.

I have started the annual process of going into our schools and educating our youth. We teach them what they need to be aware of and habits they need to learn to have a lifetime of good dental health.  These classroom presentations are generally a fun and educational experience for our students.  The annual button contest is again being held.  Each of the students that Dr. Mann speaks to has the opportunity to enter this contest by drawing what they think would make a great dental button.  All entrants are being displayed in the reception room at the office.  The winner is awarded prizes and has buttons made with their design.  These buttons are given away free at the dental office.  So feel free to come by and check out the great student designs and pick up a free button.

We recently announced the winner of our giant St. Bernard stuffed dog.  Carolyn Hinkle (pictured here with the dog) was the winner and looks forward to sharing it with her grandchildren.  We give away 4 large stuffed animals a year.   All who have an appointments in our office are eligible to enter this drawing.  Patients now are entering the drawing for a good size stuffed Walrus.

Our office does accept new patients and would love to serve you and your friends and loved ones.  You can contact us at 651-565-3511 or 800-562-3511 or on our website at wabashadentistry.com  or e-mail at drmann@manndds.com.

It Was GIVE KIDS A SMILE DAY at Dr. Bob Mann’s

Dr. Bob Mann and Staff of Wabasha Dentistry teamed up with dental professionals around the stare to provide dental care to children thru the “Give Kids A Smile” program.

The Minnesota Dental Association sponsors this statewide outreach effort, called “Give Kids a Smile”, because dentists are committed to providing all children with dental care and improving access to care throughout Minnesota. Now in its 7th consecutive year, “Give Kids a Smile” has provided free dental care to more than 25,000 children. About 200 clinics actoss the state opened their doors for this program on February 6 and 7.

“This is a special way to reach children in need of dental care and we are happy to have taken part in this program,” said Dr. Mann. Dr. Mann also wants to give a special thans to his great team at the clinic who volunteered their time for this program; Kathy Gosse, Barb Schuth, Johonna Sterry, Janet Rolbiecki, Stephanie Smith and Linda Mann. “This program would not be a success without their participation and support.”

Greetings to all,

Summer has flown by and hopefully all of you are enjoying it. The photo is one I took when I was visiting two of my sons in Portland, Oregon a few weeks ago. They have a great zoo there.

I thought I would address a subject that I get a number of questions about. Patients have requested this technique and we have been doing this a lot.

Dentistry has changed drastically over the last couple of decades. But no matter how much we have improved the comfort of dental treatment, a number of individuals still cringe at the thought of setting foot in the dental office. We understand this feeling and have been using a dental relaxation pill to make these patients feel more comfortable and relaxed. The dosage can be easily varied to fit your anxiety level and with the pill we use, there is very little, if any, side effects. So now patients who are extremely anxious can experience dental procedures calmly and tranquilly, so that procedures can be done quickly and efficiently to reduce the number of appointments needed and make it a positive experience for our patients. Our patients that experience this oral relaxation technique are able to maintain great oral health through regular comfortable maintenance once any work is done.

To learn more about this dental relaxation technique or have a free consultation please give our office a call, 1-800-862-3511 or 565-3511.

Greetings,

Summer is finally here and the office is busy seeing a lot of new faces as well as our family of patients.  It is a great time of year as we see the sun and people take their vacations and hopefully take the time to enjoy life.  We are whitening a lot of peoples teeth with a simple technique that provides fabulous results and looks fantastic as we get a little bit of a tan.  Smile makeovers are one of the more fun things we do as the procedures to accomplish these great results are simple and easy on the patient and the results make our patients smile like they have never smiled before.  We generally hear "I wish I would have done this years ago".  It is always fun to improve someone's appearance and make them feel better about themselves.  If you would like to see what we can do for you or a friend or loved one, please give us a call to set up a free consultation at 651-565-3511 or 1-800-862-3511.

We are still giving away free Minnesota Twins Tickets.  All that you need to do is to come in and pick the game you would like to go to and if they are still available, you will receive two tickets.  We can't wait to see their new ball park.

For those of you that do fear coming to the dentist and it is preventing you from coming in.  We now are using different medications to relax you while we work to make your time with us more pleasant and a lot easier on you.  Our patients that are using this technique are getting their needed dental work done without the fear and dread that used to occur with these visits.  If this is something that you may be interested in please give us a call and we would love to discuss this with you.

Hopefully all of you are having a great summer and we look forward to seeing all of you soon.
